Before MAACO Franchise

1962 - Operator of several repair shops, Anthony A. Martino launches the AAMCO Transmissions franchise chain.

1967 - After guiding AAMCO to industry leadership with 500 franchises coast-to-coast, Mr. Martino sells his interest.

Our 35 Year Franchise History

1972 - Anthony A. Martino identifies an opportunity between inexpensive, low quality auto painters and expensive, custom paint and collision shops. He opens a pilot MAACO Franchise center in Wilmington, Del.

1977 - In just five years, MAACO Franchise grows to nearly 200 production auto painting and body repair centers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

1981 - "Uh, oh…better get MAACO becomes a popular slogan as new commercials help spread the MAACO FRANCHISE name.

1982 - over 325 centers, MAACO Franchise is the world's #1 auto painter.

1987 - MAACO Franchise tops 400 franchises.

1990 - Popular actor Robert Stack, host of "Unsolved Mysteries," enhances MAACO's image in new commercials.

1991 - Anthony A. Martino is the eighth Entrepreneur of the Year honored by the International Franchise Association.

1995 - MAACO Franchise now numbers 450 centers. Same store sales have increased for five consecutive years.

1997 - Franchise paints and repairs its 10 millionth vehicle as centers gross more than $350 million.

2002 - Forced to postpone an October convention in Puerto Rico following 9/11, Anthony A. Martino patriotically holds it in early January in New York City. There, he announces plans for a "Quantum Leap" brand expansion.

2003 - – MAACO Franchise Auto Painting & Bodyworks is now MAACO Franchise Collision Repair & Auto Painting. A new tag line, America's Body shop, supports an expansion into late model cosmetic collision work. A "Certified Center" program provides access to a growing roster of centrally billed fleet accounts.

2004 - Franchise updates its stores to merchandise "best body shop practices for less."

2005 - Average store revenues are rising for the fourth consecutive year. More than 9 of 10 customers continue to say they would recommend MAACO Franchise. MAACO centers have brought new life to more than 15 million vehicles since 1972.
